Medication Manager On-Demand Course

About Medication Manager On-Demand

As of March 1, 2021, all unlicensed personnel passing medication in assisted living programs will be required to have successfully completed a medication aide or medication manager course approved by the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA) prior to administering medications in the assisted living setting. Unlicensed assisted living employees currently passing medications in certified programs have until February 28, 2021 to complete the course. In April 2020, the DIA released revised Chapter 67 rules requiring non-licensed personnel administering medications in an assisted living program or residential care facility via nurse delegation, to have completed a department approved medication manager course.

ICAL’s hybrid online Medication Manager’s course, approved by DIA, provides individuals the necessary tools to effectively and safely administer many medications encountered in assisted living and residential care facility programs. Topics covered in the course include introduction to pharmacy, review of body systems, medications used to treat common conditions found in the aged, as well as medication administration and documentation and other necessary skills.
