Program Description
This training focuses on ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding, specifically within the context of the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) and long-term care facilities. - Identify main terms, sub-terms, and default codes in the alphabetic index.
- Navigate the tabular list to apply coding instructions, exclusions, and 7th character requirements.
- Practice coding using diagnoses and scenarios to build proficiency.
- Learn how to select the principal diagnosis and comorbid diagnoses that affect PDPM.
- Maintain up-to-date ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes in long-term care facilities.
ICD-10-CM Coding Manual
Participants must have access to an ICD-10-CM coding manual for this training program. It is preferred to have the 2025 version as codes get updated, added, and/or deleted each year; but is not required for the course. Manuals can be borrowed from your facility or purchased either from Amazon or directly from a publisher such as Optum or the American Medical Association.
