2021 IHCA Foundation High School Scholarship Made Possible by MolinaCares

Scholarship criteria and information

Applicants for the IHCA Foundation High School Scholarship, made possible by MolinaCares, must meet all of the criteria listed below in order to qualify.

  • Applicant must be a high school senior, who are in their senior year during the 2020-2021 academic year, and a resident of Iowa.
  • Applicants must be enrolled or accepted in a college with an accredited CNA, LPN, RN or BSN program in Iowa, with the intent of working toward pre-requisites or required courses for that program in the 2021-2022 academic year.
  • Scholarships are for the 2021-22 academic year; therefore, applicants must be taking classes during these semesters. This is a one-year scholarship that covers the cost of the course/program up to $1,000.
  • Submit a complete application form, including 300-word essay, acceptance letter or transcript and one letter of recommendation.

Complete applications with all requirements must be submitted by May 31, 2021

  • The IHCA Foundation Board of Directors will judge qualified applications.
  • Recipients will be notified of the results by the end of July.
  • Awarded scholarship funds are placed in the care of the recipient’s approved educational institution by approximately August 1, to be credited to the recipient’s tuition and/or fees in the 2021-2022 academic year. Any unused funds are to be returned to the IHCA Foundation.

2021 High School Scholarship Application Form

This $1,000 scholarship, made possible by MolinaCares, is for Iowa high school seniors enrolling in a CNA, LPN, RN or BSN program and interested in a future career in long-term care. Twenty-four of these scholarships are available.

  • I certify with my initials below that I meet all of the requirements for a student in good standing at an approved educational institution. I certify that all of the information contained herein is true and correct.
  • Required Documents

  • Compose and upload an essay of up to 300 words. It must be your own work and include discussion on the following: 1) Why you are interested in long-term care, 2) Your educational goals related to long-term care and 3) Your career plans once your educational goal is achieved.

  • Applicants currently enrolled in a college must submit a copy of their most recent transcript. (A transcript printed from the college's offical website is acceptable.) Applicants who are newly enrolled students (without an established college transcript) must submit a copy of their program acceptance letter from the college.

  • Upload a recommendation letter from your principal or teacher. Please ask them to include your name, their name, high school name, telephone and email address in the letter. In the letter, they should describe why they believe you would be a worthy recipient of an IHCA Foundation scholarship. Please limit letters to 200 words or less.
