MDS 101 – April 2024
Program Description
Attendees will learn the details needed to ensure a successful implementation of MDS 3.0 and gain and overall understanding on how to use the Resident Assessment Instrument correctly. MDS 101 education will review MDS 3.0 form and go through complete line-by-line instructions to ensure proper reimbursement of OBRA assessments, optimal outcomes, and quality care. Provide a basic understanding of the Quality Measures and offer tips to aid you in proper coding of the MDS to positively impact on your quality measures. There will also be a review of how to collect the data for the MDS and avoid common errors in MDS coding.
- Identify how to accurately complete each section of the MDS 3.0.
- Identify areas of the MDS that can positively or negatively impact your quality measures.
- Identify documentation required for the assessment.
- Identify how to use RAI manual and keep updated.

Speaker Bio
Lisa Roederer RN, RAC-CT, QCP, ICP is a nurse consultant and owner of Virtuous LTC Consulting Services. Lisa has 36 years of Acute Care and Long-Term Care experience. She has worked as a C.NA, Restorative Aide, LPN, RN, MDS Nurse, DON and has worked the past 15 years as a Corporate Nurse and as an independent Nurse Consultant.
