IPALTC presents free webinar on medicinal cannabis

The Iowa Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care (IPALTC) has created a free webinar, Medical Marijuana in Iowa, for the benefit of all current medical director members. The on-demand recording focuses on the use of this highly controversial substance to treat chronic and terminal conditions or symptoms in long-term care populations. The webinar will be available until mid-February.

Although the use of medical marijuana has been legalized in Iowa, conflicting state rules for its use and federal regulations that continue to classify cannabis as a Schedule I drug create barriers to the use of this drug for most post-acute care providers. This 75-minute webinar gives medical practitioners background on the research and efficacy of using cannabis and lays out the regulatory challenges with use of this same drug.

The webinar is presented by Dr. Tom Mouser, Chief Medical Officer of EveryStep (formerly HCI-VNS Care Services) and an internal medicine and palliative care expert, as well as Ken Watkins, JD, owner of Kendall R. Watkins, PC.
