Accounting Specialist

Full-time opportunity within the Business Office at Western Home Communities

DUTIES: The Accounting Specialist assists with Financial Operations including Medicare and Medicaid billing, and other responsibilities as assigned. Ensures proper billing procedures are in place and processing is done on a timely basis for all billing. Reviews accounts receivable aging for all billing including Medicare and Medicaid and pending applicants on a monthly basis and determine further actions as needed. Assists in collecting delinquent accounts, including visiting with residents and families as needed. Assists in maintaining the internal control policies and procedures of Western Home Communities as they relate to the functional accounting areas and their related activities of staff in the Business Office. All other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: Degree in Accounting or closely related field preferred, experience will be considered. Three years of accounting or related experience, preferred. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and operational activities in a non-profit environment preferred. Experience in the utilization of a variety of software application programs (Excel, Word, and Various Accounting Software systems) Effective oral and written communication skills as well as effective interpersonal skills to interact with both organizational personnel and external parties. Must be able to read, speak and write fluent English. Regular attendance is required. Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed.
