Education Director
Based in West Des Moines, Iowa, Iowa Health Care Association [IHCA] and its divisions, Iowa Center for Assisted Living [ICAL] and Iowa Center for Home Care [ICHC], is a statewide non-profit organization that represents and serves a diverse membership comprised of Iowa skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), assisted living programs (ALPs), home health agencies (HHAs), continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) and long-term care medical directors across Iowa.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and working closely with the Vice President (VP) of Convention and Education, the Education Director will be primarily responsible for planning and executing long-term health care education and training events in both in-person and on-demand formats throughout the year. The Education Director will retain a current understanding of continuing education requirements and the education and training needs for employees of long-term care providers.

Primary Responsibilities
- Coordinate programs and systems related to the on-demand education platform with coursework, programming, and communications to the event management system.
- Manage operational aspects of the on-demand education platform including trouble shooting issues and working with members to solve access issues and advance inquiries promptly.
- Set up events in IHCA’s event management system and the on-demand education platform for the public-facing website, using information provided by the VP of Convention and Education regarding the event date, location, and speakers.
- Assist with conducting in-person education events primarily in the IHCA Education Center and other venues in the Greater Des Moines area and occasionally in eastern and western Iowa. Estimated 3-5 nights of travel a year with three of these nights in downtown Des Moines.
- Upload CEUs certificate information from a third-party vendor into the event management system and verify accuracy.
- Manage education webinar-based platforms, such as Zoom.
- Manage Dependent Adult and Child Mandatory Reporter quarterly reports to the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.
- Provide ideas to improve services and event quality and generate education topics and speaker suggestions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Meeting and Event Planning or related field, or relevant experience, required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Proficient with event management system software
- At least two years of experience in customer service, meeting or event planning, or a related field.
- Valid Iowa driver’s license
