FT Lead Cook (Cedar Falls, IA)

Western Home Communities is looking for a passionate Lead Cook to join our team. The day-to-day duties include preparing high quality food, maintaining inventory and ordering food when needed. The ideal candidate enjoys the opportunity to grow and challenge themselves with new recipes and cooking skills. If you have a passion for food and serving others- we are wanting to talk to you!

Responsibilities:

Actively participates in the planning, preparation, cooking and serving of meals
Prepare high quality, good-tasting, and visually appealing food
Maintains good organization of all food, supplies, dinnerware and food service equipment
Complete weekly inventory and food ordering within the building
Maintains cooking area to ensure safety and sanitation requirements are in compliance with all regulations
Interacts with staff and residents in a positive way
Will comply with all federal and state regulatory requirements to maintain certification in food handling professional and other certifications as appropriate.

Requirements:

Must be 18 years of age or older
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Drivers License
Valid ServSafe certificate (or local equivalent)
Past experience working in a food service setting
Strong customer service background
Full comprehension of pan sizes, different types of knives, and food labels and warnings
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words in English and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences in English.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals on a calculation device.
Must be able and willing to work weekends and holidays as required/needed
