Full Job Description
Overview:
The Shores is seeking a RN for a Full Time Day Shift – 8 hour shift – Monday through Friday and on-call. This position comes with a competitive compensation and benefits package.

The overall purpose of this position is to assure the residents are cared for mentally, spiritually and in health. The primary responsibilities of this position include ensuring the residents are safe and free from pain or abuse and treated with dignity and respect. Key Areas

Key Responsibilities and Duties of the Job

Resident Care and Administrative Duties

Directs and participates in appropriate care. Records and reports any changes in patient conditions to the AL Manager.
Utilizes the nursing process in planning individualized resident care though an interdisciplinary team approach. Assures care provided complies with plan of care standards through observation and evaluation.
Appropriately delegates clinical procedures which do not require licensure to other team members as appropriate.
Assists in planning patient care through an IDT approach and conference. Assists with ongoing assessments & reevaluations.
Implements nursing interventions consistent with care of plan.
Directs Nursing Assistants and Universal Care Attendants to administer medications and treatments (including intravenous infusions and medications) and evaluates response. Provides resident and family education.
Demonstrates timely response to resident calls, anticipates resident needs, and assures resident safety and comfort.
Evaluates resident care effectiveness to assure care standards are consistently followed and modify if needed according to nursing policy.
Assess resident pain and establishes an acceptable pain level. Responds and intervenes to verbal and non-verbal pain.
Demonstrates the ability to perform in an accurate and precise manner in crisis and emergency situations.
Assumes responsibility with intravenous therapy and NG insertion following the outlined regulations in the state of license.

Compliance

Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth through participation in meetings, training and continuing education. Fulfills annual education requirements per policy.
Maintains compliance with established policies, procedures and objectives concerning quality, safety, environmental and infection.
Monitors systems for accuracy, conducts audits and provides summaries as directed.

Other

Performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:
Education-
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the respective state in which he/she is employed is required.
Experience-
Minimum of one (1) year of progressive experience in and assisted living or skilled care community or related experience is required.
Equivalent years of education may substitute for experience requirement.
Other Requirements-
Certification in Basic Life Support and First Aid is preferred or willingness to get certified within 60 days of hire date.

Knowledge of physical, mental, spiritual and social needs of the senior and/or frail elderly population and their families.

Knowledge of concepts, principles and practices in the nursing field.
Strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and professional standards.
Knowledge of medical terminology, instruments and equipment and how to use and maintain them.

Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with residents/participants, co-workers, family members and vendors.
