October 16, 2020

In Angela Weber’s 40+ years of experience in long-term care, she has learned the importance of patience, understanding and tolerance. As an RN coordinator at Bickford Assisted Living in Muscatine, Angela enjoys hearing words of wisdom from the residents.

How did you get started in the long-term care profession?
I began my career in long-term care back in the late 1970s when I was employed as a nurse aide in a nursing home in Ohio.

What do you like most about working in long-term care?
I enjoy the residents! They have so much to teach us.

What would you tell others to encourage them to consider a career in long-term care?
Residents in long-term care facilities are all unique individuals. I feel honored to be able to assist those who assisted us when we were younger.

What lessons have you learned working in long-term care that also help you outside of work?
I have learned patience, understanding, tolerance and that not everyone believes in what I believe.

When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
I enjoy gardening and walking the dog along the river.

What is your favorite quote and why?
“Moving from life to death can, and should, be every bit as profound, intimate and precious as that of birth.” – Ira Byock
