July 9, 2020

As a CNA at St. Luke Lutheran Home, Ann Carroll finds her job in long-term care rewarding and she enjoys building relationships with the residents.

How did you get started in the long-term care profession?
My sister is a nurse.

What do you like most about working in long-term care?
I enjoy getting to know the people I care for.

What would you tell others to encourage them to consider a career in long-term care?
If you are compassionate, care about taking care of the elderly and want to make the elderly look forward to you taking care of them – then this is the job for you. It is very rewarding if you have a heart and compassion.

What lessons have you learned working in long-term care that also helps you outside of work?
I have learned compassion for others and the joy of doing a job worth doing.

When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
Reading, campfires and spending time with family.

What is your favorite quote and why?
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” It is very fitting.
