Chris Liagre was introduced to the long-term care profession through a friend. As a home health aide at Family Care Solutions, he likes helping his patients live their lives, and he learns from those he cares for.
How did you get started in the long-term care profession?
I got started in long-term care when a friend introduced me to this profession.
What do you like most about working in long-term care?
I like helping individuals work on skills that can help them live life, and helping bring out their talents to share with the community.
What would you tell others to encourage them to consider a career in long-term care?
I would let others know that the individuals we help take care of teach us about different aspects of life and share their talents with the community.
What lessons have you learned working in long-term care that also helps you outside of work?
I have learned a lot on patience and topics from other people’s viewpoints.
When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
I enjoy being in the wilderness and walking on wooded trails.
What is your favorite quote and why?
“Treat others as you want to be treated.” I chose this quote because everyone I come in contact with is just as special as the next person. Every person is special in my eyes and should give their opinions, no matter what others believe.
