Member Spotlight: Cori Harris of Wellington Place

September 1, 2022

Cori Harris serves as an activities assistant at Wellington Place in Decorah. Cori’s favorite part of working in long-term care is seeing relationships grow between the residents and staff.

How did you become interested in the long-term care profession?
Over the last ten years, I’ve held many positions in health care (dietary, home health and administration) – it’s always my love for people that brings me back to long-term care.

What do you like most about working in long-term care?
I enjoy seeing the friendships bloom – whether it’s residents/residents, staff/staff or staff/residents.

What would you tell others to encourage them to consider a career in long-term care?
Not all long-term care facilities are the same. Wellington Place is by far the best one I’ve worked in.

What lessons have you learned working in long-term care that also help outside of work?
You never know what someone is going through – so be KIND!

When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
In the summer I enjoy kayaking and coaching t-ball. In the winter I enjoy binge watching Christmas movies.

What is your favorite quote and why?
“Be the change you want to see in the world.”
