Destiny Long’s health and nursing classes in school inspired her career in long-term care. As a CNA at St. Luke Lutheran Home of St. Luke Homes & Services, Inc., she enjoys helping residents achieve their goals.

How did you get started in the long-term care profession?
I took many health and nursing classes in school that inspired me to become a CNA and eventually an RN.

What do you like most about working in long-term care?
I enjoy making a connection with the residents and making them happy and comfortable.

What would you tell others to encourage them to consider a career in long-term care?
Working in long-term care is a very rewarding job because you get to help the residents achieve their goals and make them feel safe and happy.

What lessons have you learned working in long-term care that also helps you outside of work?
I have learned how to stay calm under pressure and how to react quickly in scary situations.

When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
I enjoy fishing and golfing.
