Member Spotlight: Elizabeth Wilke of Family Care Solutions

May 13, 2021

After hearing about the rewarding work that was happening at Family Care Solutions (FCS), Elizabeth Wilke decided she wanted to join the team. As an administrative assistant at FCS in Davenport, Elizabeth enjoys the diversity within her job and getting to see patients of various backgrounds achieve their goals.

How did you get started in the long-term care profession?
I was referred to my position in long-term care by someone who was working with FCS and was so enthusiastic and passionate about the work that they were doing.

What do you like most about working in long-term care?
I like the diversity of working with individuals with all different abilities and personalities. Everyday is a new experience.

What would you tell others to encourage them to consider a career in long-term care?
Long-term care is the most rewarding and fulfilling job. Being able to see patients grow and thrive and getting to be a part of that experience with them is such a great feeling.

What lessons have you learned working in long-term care that also help you outside of work?
A lesson that I have learned is that patience and compassion are everything – both inside and outside of the workplace.

When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
Outside of work I enjoy reading and spending time with family and friends.

What is your favorite quote and why?
“Just be kind, you never know what someone else may be growing through.” Everyone we encounter on a daily basis has something going on within their life that you know nothing about. Just be kind!
