Due to her passion for helping families, Heather Maddasion knew working in long-term care was the profession for her. As a supports waiver case manager at Family Care Solutions in Davenport, Heather enjoys being a part of the journey for those she cares for.
How did you get started in the long-term care profession?
I fell upon this job opportunity and knew that my passion for helping others succeed would work best in a field that was involved with families for the long haul!
What do you like most about working in long-term care?
My favorite part about working in long-term care is seeing individuals progress over time. Helping them get from point A to point B is such a rewarding feeling, not only for the individual but for us as an agency.
What would you tell others to encourage them to consider a career in long-term care?
There is a feeling of accomplishment in looking at an individual and thinking, “I was a part of their journey, and we helped them get there!”
What lessons have you learned working in long-term care that also help you outside of work?
I have learned patience. Long-term care requires quite a bit of patience, which can be utilized in every aspect of the day outside of work.
When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
I enjoy dancing and playing with my littles, running and tending to my new hobby of gardening!
What is your favorite quote and why?
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” – Wayne Gretzky. If you want something in life, you can’t obtain it just by sitting and watching.
