March 11, 2021

As a CNA at Garden View at St. Anthony’s, Kelly Kaspersen has been helping seniors in long-term care for decades. In this role, she gains satisfaction in providing love and care to residents.

How did you get started in the long-term care profession?
In 1992, I started working at Shady Oaks at 28 years old.

What do you like most about working in long-term care?
One thing I like the most is interacting with the elderly.

What would you tell others to encourage them to consider a career in long-term care?
I encourage others to consider a career in long-term care as it provides one with the satisfaction of learning from residents and helping them.

What lessons have you learned working in long-term care that also help you outside of work?
A lesson I have learned while working in long-term care is how to have patience. I’ve also learned the importance of how to love others without expecting anything in return, but often find that you get so much back and it’s amazing.

When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
When I am not working, I enjoy reading and studying my Bible, crocheting and being with family and friends.

What is your favorite quote and why?
“Because I know when I accepted the Lord for what He did for me by believing in Him alone, I can have everlasting life, that I don’t deserve.” (John 5:13)
