Member Spotlight: Kelly White of Family Care Solutions

Kelly White entered the long-term care profession over ten years ago after graduating nursing school. As an RN case manager at Family Care Solutions in Davenport, she enjoys the unique aspects of home health care and the opportunity take part in the care of a variety of people.

How did you get started in the long-term care profession?
Working in home health was my first job out of nursing school, over 10 years ago.

What do you like most about working in long-term care?
The teamwork in my particular company, the home health setting and the many individuals that I get to meet and take part in their care are what keep me in this role.

What would you tell others to encourage them to consider a career in long-term care?
The experience of working in long-term care is different than many other settings, and you can develop relationships that can have a positive impact on patients.

What lessons have you learned working in long-term care that also helps you outside of work?
I have learned patience and that taking your time supports better results.

When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
I enjoy spending time with family and traveling.

What is your favorite quote and why?
“One positive thought in the morning can change your whole day.” I love this quote because I believe it to be true.
