Member Spotlight: Kerry Knode of Adel Acres

October 8, 2019

Kerry started working at Adel Acres in 1998 as a housekeeper and obtained her CNA license in 1999 because she desired an opportunity to be more hands-on with the residents. She functioned as the social services and activities representative for two years but missed directly handling patient needs and decided to return to the floor.

“I love working at Adel Acres. We work in a serious business, but our residents are people and I want them to have fun, so I’m not afraid to be silly and lighthearted if it makes them feel more comfortable with us,” said Kerry.

Kerry has a special interest in the elderly population as she cared for multiple people close to her as they aged and endured the course of different diagnoses. She is highly regarded by residents, families and her peers, and she builds special connections with each of her patients and families.

“She is a rockstar and the type of person you would want taking care of a loved one,” said Tom Harmsen, marketing/admissions manager at Adel Acres.

Kerry makes each resident feel appreciated and quickly builds trust with those who rely on her.
