Member Spotlight: Kerry Sudtelgte of Bavarian Meadows Assisted Living

August 19, 2019

As a resident assistant at Bavarian Meadows Assisted Living in Remsen, Kerry Sudtelgte has made a career of serving others.

How did you get started in the long-term care profession?
When I was younger, I got a job at a nursing home and decided to get my CNA certification. Years later, I felt “the calling” to come back.

What do you like most about working in long-term care?
My favorite part of working in long-term care is the people!

What would you tell others to encourage them to consider a career in long-term care?
It’s so rewarding. The lessons you learn from the people you care for are amazing! But the rewards of giving of yourself are priceless.

What lessons have you learned working in long-term care that also help you outside of work?
It’s about how you treat people and how to build relationships and friendships.

When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
Spending time with my grandkids, reading, baking and selling Scentsy products.

What is your favorite quote and why?
“Do not judge my story by the chapter you walked in on.” – Unknown. It’s the truth and speaks volumes about not judging others!
