Naychure Crawley, a caregiver at Holland Farms in Norwalk, finds it rewarding to make an impact on the residents and their families.
How did you become interested in the long-term care profession?
I worked as a dietary aide and a certified nursing assistant (CNA).
What do you like most about working in long-term care?
The things I like the most about working in long-term care are the connections made and the impacts we have on residents and their families.
What would you tell others to encourage them to consider a career in long-term care?
The amount of satisfaction you get from helping others is rewarding – it makes you feel good making them happy.
What lessons have you learned working in long-term care that also help outside of work
You never know what they are going through. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
I enjoy reading, solving puzzles, being with family and pool days.
What is your favorite quote and why?
“Sometimes you have to stop being scared and just go for it.” Either it will work out or it won’t. That’s life. So many opportunities are missed because people become scared.
