Member Spotlight: Tienna Glenn of Family Care Solutions

June 24, 2021

After working in a hospital, Tienna Glenn transitioned to a career in home care for the ability to provide personal one-on-one care. As a registered nurse care manager at Family Care Solutions in Davenport, Tienna enjoys the rewarding feeling she receives from helping patients achieve their goals.

How did you get started in the long-term care profession?
In 2014, I transitioned from working in acute-care in the hospital to home care for a change. Home care nursing allows for more one-on-one care, with limited interruptions to provide the best care possible. It allows for me to work with patients and their loved ones to keep them in the home as long as possible.

What do you like most about working in long-term care?
My favorite thing about working in long-term care is the autonomy, flexibility and ability to provide more personal one-on-one care.

What would you tell others to encourage them to consider a career in long-term care?
Working in long-term care is rewarding, allows for more flexibility and more one-on-one care.

What lessons have you learned working in long-term care that also help outside of work?
Some lessons I have learned include prioritization, time management and communication skills.

When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
During my free time, I enjoy running, spending time with my family, reading and watching TV.

What is your favorite quote and why?
“There is no failure except in no longer trying because failure is a part of growth and learning.” When at first you don’t succeed, just keep trying.
