All senior living providers are asked to help support the State of Seniors Housing 2025 Annual Survey. The State of Seniors Housing is a collaborative research project that conducts annual health care research. All survey data will be handled with complete confidentiality and the results will be presented only in aggregate.

The report summarizes data collected among independent living communities, assisted living communities, nursing facilities and continuing care retirement communities. It contains the following information:
- All pertinent financial and performance measures, including resident turnover and length of stay;
- Annual financial results per occupied unit;
- Staffing ratios and labor costs;
- Other key cost items; and
- Key financial performance indicators and more.
Completed surveys should be submitted to Colleen Blumenthal of HealthTrust by close of business on March 31, 2026.
All organizations that complete surveys will receive a complimentary copy of The State of Seniors Housing 2025 Annual Report, which compiles the survey results for comparisons to your own operations. The report is a necessary resource for owners, operators, lenders, investors and other professionals interested in the market-rate senior housing business.
Properties eligible for inclusion in the State of Seniors Housing sample include:
- For-profit and not-for-profit communities
- Communities where the majority of units provide independent living, including active adult communities
- Communities where the majority of units provide assisted living service
- Communities where the majority of units provide memory care
- Life plan communities/continuing care retirement communities
Please do not complete surveys for properties where rates are subsidized, such as Sec. 202 elderly housing.
