Researchers at the University of South Florida are seeking input from certified nursing assistants (CNAs) to better understand workforce retention, job satisfaction and the workplace factors that influence caregivers’ experiences across long-term care settings.
While the study focuses on hospice environments, CNAs working in nursing facilities, assisted living, residential care, senior living communities and home health are encouraged to participate in the survey and indicate interest in future research as the project expands.
The research, Networks of Care: Understanding Turnover in Hospice Settings, explores how workplace relationships, support systems and daily experiences impact CNA retention and satisfaction. Findings are intended to help inform strategies that strengthen the caregiving workforce and improve support for frontline staff across care settings.
How CNAs can participate
CNAs age 18+ can take part by completing this short online survey. Those with hospice experience may also be invited to participate in additional virtual research activities.
Participation options include:
- Online survey: 15–20 minutes, available anytime
- Virtual interview (30–45 minutes): For CNAs with hospice experience
- Virtual focus group (90 minutes): For CNAs with hospice experience
Interview and focus group participants will receive a $10 gift card for their time.
This research is being conducted by the University of South Florida School of Aging Studies and has been approved by the university’s Institutional Review Board. Facilities are encouraged to share this opportunity with CNAs who may be interested in contributing their perspectives to workforce research.
