Final OASIS-E2 data set and supporting resources now published

CMS has officially published the final versions of the OASIS E-2 data set, OASIS E-2 manual and OASIS E-2 Q&A documents. OASIS-E2 is scheduled for implementation on April 1, 2026. Minor differences between the drafted and the finalized data set include typo corrections, a revised definition and a citation addition.

Key updates:

• At SOC/ROC:
  • CMS provided the source citation for A1255 to the data set item.
• At RECERT/FU:
  • CMS changed the skip pattern to read “Risk for Hospitalization” rather than “Risk of Hospitalization” and corrected a typo in GG0170 (previously “GG170”).
• At DISCHARGE:
  • Corrected the GG0170 typo in the skip pattern.
• At Discharge/DAH/Transfer:
  • CMS removed the definitions of injuries caused by falls from the responses in J1900B and J1900C. This was replaced by the directive, “As described in the OASIS manual.”
