IHCA is pleased to introduce two new resources designed to support nursing facilities in their efforts to streamline admissions and enhance communication with residents and families.
- Admission agreement template
- The new admission agreement template provides a strong foundation for outlining the rights, responsibilities and expectations of both the facility and the resident. Developed to align with applicable federal regulations and state rules, the template addresses key admission elements while allowing flexibility for each facility to tailor the content to its specific operations, services and policies.
- Resident handbook with sample language
- To complement the admission agreement, IHCA has also developed a resident handbook template. This resource is designed to clearly explain facility policies, resident rights and daily life in an accessible, easy-to-understand format. When used alongside the admission agreement, the handbook helps reinforce transparency, consistency and informed decision-making for residents and their representatives.
Both templates are intended to be starting points, not one-size-fits-all documents. Facilities should carefully review and update the templates to reflect their individual practices, services and legal considerations. By doing so, members can save time while maintaining documentation that supports compliance and promotes a positive admission experience. IHCA encourages all nursing facility members to take advantage of these new resources and integrate them into their admission and onboarding processes, as appropriate.
Questions about either resource can be directed to IHCA’s Brenda Irlbeck, VP of Regulatory Affairs.
