Staff Spotlight: Amanda Berkley of IHCA

March 5, 2020

This week’s Spotlight is a special edition, as we highlight a new face in the IHCA office. Amanda Berkley joined IHCA in February as the accounting and program services specialist. Amanda’s skillset makes her a valuable resource to IHCA as she supports the association’s accounting and bookkeeping functions and assists with member committees and association programs. IHCA is happy to have her as part of the team!

Why did you choose to work at IHCA?
I’ve wanted to work for a nonprofit for many years. The thought of using my skills in accounting to make a genuine difference is what interested me most about IHCA. My work has special meaning and I know it’s not “just a job.”

What do you like most about working at IHCA and serving long-term care organizations?
Coming from a corporate environment, serving has taken on a different form. At IHCA, the act of serving is linked closely with belonging, connection and relationships between people. It’s very refreshing.

When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
I enjoy spending time with my family. We like camping, boating, hiking, snowboarding, music, art and my kids are involved in a number of different sports and dance.

What is your favorite quote and why?
It’s all about attitude! Because it’s our attitude when faced with a task that can make us miserable.
