2023 Special Convention Events

AHCA/NCAL President and CEO Mark Parkinson will kick off convention with his vision on why long-term care will survive the workforce crisis and other challenges. The keynote presentation will come from Jody Urquhart, who will get the convention started with a bang! Jody is an enthusiastic keynote presenter and one of America’s favorite motivational funny ladies. She has more than 25 years of experience inspiring and entertaining audiences across the globe. Jody’s humorous and uplifting talk titled, “Take this Job and Love It,” will help you see how to cultivate a much-needed blissful can-do attitude toward fun and meaningful work.

The IHCA Annual Trade Show will feature over 80 booths, offering the latest innovative products and services in the industry. Attendees will have ample opportunities to meet with company representatives and view the latest technology demonstrations. The Trade Show will be open on Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with an exclusive time slot for administrators and owners at 4:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. A reception sponsored by Martin Bros. Distributing Co., Inc. will take place from 4:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

You won’t want to miss Monday night’s fun and entertaining Silent Disco Party, sponsored by BrownWinick Law. This unique party experience involves partygoers wearing specially designed wireless glowing headphones with the ability to switch between different genres of music. Three live DJs will battle for the attention of partygoers as they provide an interactive experience for the whole crowd and onlookers.

Jerald Cosey is a health care leader, patient advocate, consultant and professional speaker. Jerald’s perspective as a health care facility leader, combined with his own experience as a patient, captures the impact of quality care on a person’s life. Jerald’s meaningful keynote speech titled, “The Power of Purpose to Advance Senior Health Care,” will leave you with an unforgettable lesson, mingled with laughter and learning.

The Annual Business Meeting, sponsored by Trio Pharmacy Services, gives members insight into the association’s activities throughout the year and an update on the future of their disciplines in Iowa long-term care and home health. Attendees will receive reports on the association’s activities, legal, regulatory and legislative issues, as well as other association business.

It’s back again! The fun and entertaining music Bingo Party is back by popular demand at IHCA’s 2023 Convention. Music bingo is a fun spin on traditional bingo that allows participants to jam out to snippets of their favorite songs while competitively playing against other music lovers!

We are pleased to have Jamie Pollard, Iowa State University director of athletics, close out our 2023 Convention. Since his arrival in 2005, he has reimagined almost every facet of the Iowa State University (ISU) athletic department, leading the Cyclones to records in attendance, ticket sales and academic scores. Jamie’s closing keynote speech, Pearls of Wisdom, will share the leadership lessons he has learned in nearly 20 years of being the ISU director of athletics.
