What Can Be Done About Financial Distress in U.S. Nursing Home Care?

Live and On Demand Access

The program will be recorded. All participants registered prior to the live event will have access to both the live and on-demand version. Participants registered after the live event will have access to the on-demand version.

Program Description

Iowa is experiencing distress in its nursing homes with 26 facility closures just between June 2022 and July 2023. Understanding financial distress and what can be done about it is essential for nursing homes. Experience in financial distress situations shows a behavior pattern by organizational leaders where many often wait too long to seek the specialized advisors needed to work through financial distress successfully. Such delay can lead to bankruptcy and unplanned closure.

This panel will provide Iowa nursing home leaders relevant education to support management through the financial distress the senior care sector is experiencing. The presentations will look at financial performance in a fresh way where there are many options available to achieve long-term sustainability. Participants will be encouraged to monitor their organizations’ potential for financial distress, as well as act on the information in a timely manner to maintain excellent services for their communities.

This program will be offered in two 45-minute sessions.

  • Session 1: Operational Strategies for Nursing Home Financial Distress and Board Communications During Financial Distress
  • Session 2: Legal Strategies for Nursing Home Financial Distress

You must watch both sessions (either live or on-demand) in order to qualify for CEUs.
