Medicare Boot Camp for Home Health Clinicians

Program Description

The “maze of Medicare” can be confusing to those of us who have been in Home Health for decades– so imagine being new to home health- and we are all speaking this new language filled with Medicare acronyms.  Do you remember learning what made a patient homebound- and then being told “no- that’s not right- THIS is what makes a patient home bound”.  Or have you ever thought you knew the rules about what Medicare pays for- and then found out that it is not quite what you understood?  This is common– partly because of the complexity and subjectivity of the rules- and how we seem to “hand them down” from one home health nurse to another like good ol’ family stories, and partly because the rules keep changing.

This two-day boot camp will be the tie breaker in your next hearty debate!  The training is full of “myth busters”- and will empower each attendee from the brand-new home health clinician to that clinical manager with resources, tools and the actual CMS guidance.

Day One: Clinical Aspects of Payment Focus
H.H. Medicare Benefit and Requirements from the Clinician Perspective
The Process- from Intake to Discharge
PDGM – The Updated Prospective Payment System
OASIS – Key Items and Star Rating
H.H. Value Based Purchasing and How the Clinician makes an Impact.

Day Two: Clinical Aspects of Survey/Quality Focus
What are the Rules and Process for a Survey? (NOTE: All new updates from the Survey Operations Manual and Interpretive Guidelines!)
Patient Rights and the Medicare Notices
Preparing for a Survey
Emergency Preparedness and Infection Control
Proof of Excellence: HHQRP and QAPI
