Webinar/Program Description

This webinar provides home health clinicians and leaders with a comprehensive, survey-focused review of federal drug regimen review (DRR) requirements and their practical application in daily practice. Led by a former state surveyor with extensive experience citing medication management deficiencies, this session offers an insider’s perspective on how regulators interpret, investigate and enforce DRR standards.

Participants will examine CMS Conditions of Participation related to medication review, reconciliation, adverse drug event monitoring and physician communication. Through real-world examples, documentation review and case scenarios, attendees will learn how to conduct thorough and compliant drug regimen reviews in the home setting, identify clinically significant medication issues, and implement timely interventions.

Special emphasis is placed on avoiding common survey citations, strengthening interdisciplinary communication, and integrating DRR into comprehensive assessments, care planning and ongoing patient monitoring. This session prepares clinicians to confidently demonstrate compliance while improving medication safety and patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this webinar, the participant will be able to:

• Explain federal home health drug regimen review requirements, including documentation, follow-up and physician notification standards.
• Identify high-risk medication issues commonly cited during surveys, including therapeutic duplication, adverse interactions, non-adherence and contraindications.
• Demonstrate how to perform, document and communicate a compliant drug regimen review that supports patient safety, regulatory compliance and survey readiness.
