2023 Linda Juckette Family Rural and Veteran Scholarship

This scholarship, made possible by the Linda Juckette Family Fund, is for anyone who is a veteran or active-duty military personnel OR resides in a rural Iowa county and is interested in pursuing a health care education with the goal of joining the long-term care profession. Scholarships will be offered to provide for up to $2,000 toward tuition for rural Iowa residents and military veterans interested in pursuing nursing or health care administration degree programs or long-term care certification programs. Applications for this scholarship are now closed.

Scholarship criteria and information
Applicants for this scholarship must meet all the criteria listed below to qualify:

  • Reside in a rural Iowa county as defined by Census Bureau data OR be a veteran or active-duty military personnel who resides in Iowa at the time of the application and at the time the scholarships are awarded. Veteran and military applicants can live in any Iowa county and apply. View the eligible rural Iowa county list here. (See page 13 for Iowa counties).
  • Enrolled or accepted in an accredited school of nursing, long-term care or health care administration program, physical or occupational therapy program, AA/AS/ADN, BA/BS/BSN, MS/MA, or MHA/MSN program, or planning to take long-term care certification classes, such as certified nursing assistant (CNA), certified medical assistant (CMA), certified dietary manager (CDM), certified activity director, or reimbursement certification (MDS or OASIS) classes during the 2023-2024 academic year.
  • Submit a complete application form, including a 500-word essay, acceptance letter or transcript and one letter of recommendation, by May 31, 2023.

Scholarship award process 

  • The IHCA Foundation Board of Directors will judge qualified applications.
  • Recipients will be notified of the results by the end of July.
  • Awarded scholarship funds are placed in the care of the recipient’s approved educational institution or certification program provider by the end of August, to be credited to the recipient’s tuition and/or class fees in the 2023-2024 academic year. This is a one-year scholarship that covers the cost of the course/program up to $2,000.
