Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Assistant Director of Nursing / MDS Coordinator to join our team. In this vital role, you will oversee nursing operations, coordinate the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments, complete weekly skin assessments as the Wound Nurse and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Your leadership will help maintain high standards of resident care while managing documentation, staff supervision, and interdisciplinary communication.
Responsibilities:
– Lead and supervise nursing staff to deliver exceptional resident care across all shifts, fostering a positive team environment.
– Coordinate and complete comprehensive MDS assessments to ensure accurate resident data collection for reimbursement and care planning purposes.
– Review medical records, care plans, and documentation to verify accuracy, completeness, and compliance with HIPAA and Medicare regulations.
– Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems and electronic medical records (EMR) to streamline documentation processes.
– Complete thorough weekly skin assessments as the assigned Wound Nurse.
– Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including physicians, therapists, and social worker—to develop individualized care plans aligned with residents’ needs.
– Monitor shift management activities to ensure staffing levels meet resident needs while maintaining regulatory compliance.
– Stay current on healthcare regulations related to nursing home standards and assisted living level of care.
Skills:
– Knowledge of nursing practices within the nursing home and assisted living environments.
– Proven experience in nurse management and supervising nursing staff effectively.
– Strong understanding of MDS processes, Medicare requirements, and documentation review procedures.
– Proficiency with EMR systems and EHR platforms for accurate medical records management.
– Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage shift operations efficiently.
– Familiarity with medical terminology, physiology, anatomy knowledge, and healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA.
– Ability to review complex medical records accurately while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review.
