Controller/Office Manager

Good Shepherd, Inc. is seeking an experienced Financial Controller/Office Manager to oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and compliance reporting, budgeting, payroll, and development of internal control policies and procedures. Good Shepherd, Inc. is a 300 employee continuum of care retirement community located in Mason City, IA consisting of a 210 bed NF/SNF nursing facility, 106 assisted living units, 220 apartments, and 32 condominiums.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Managing all finance and accounting operations, including billing, A/R. A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition
• Assist with development and preparation of budgets, financial forecasting
• Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements and variance reports
• Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, including annual 3rd party audits.
• Ensure Quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
• Oversee payroll process
• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal reporting
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Additional controller duties as necessary

Requirements:

• Proven working experience as a Financial Controller
• 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience (healthcare accounting a plus)
• Advanced degree in Accounting preferred
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Experience with creating financial statements
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close processes
• Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
• Experience with payroll, employment laws, and working with unions a plus
• Proven personnel management skills
