Fulltime Cook

The primary functions and responsibilities of this position are as follows: additional duties may be
added as necessary to meet the needs of the facility. You will be evaluated on your ability to
perform these functions competently with minimal supervision and/or reminders.
1) Perform various food preparation/covering/labeling tasks as assigned.
2) Prepare and serve beverages per recipes.
3) Set up trays and food service carts accurately and timely.
4) Neatly arrange tray and/or table settings with proper tableware, condiments, and name
5) Serve meals to residents, in accordance with established schedules, dietary procedures,
and residents’ rights/quality of life principles.
6) Assist in the preparing & delivery of nourishment’s/supplements to specified residents
as scheduled.
7) Assist in maintaining tray cards accurately and orderly, making changes as directed.
8) Assist in maintaining dry storage areas by monitoring temperatures and handling the
unpacking, dating, and rotating of food and non-food supplies as directed.
9) Assist in the proper care, use and cleaning of kitchen equipment.
10) Follow cleaning schedule as assigned.
11) Record food/cooler/freezer temps as assigned.

13) Recognize your role as part of the QAPI efforts of your organization
14) Attend trainings to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work
15) Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned
16) Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts
17) Look for and share with leadership ideas for improvement in the organization
18) Communicate to leadership upon witnessing a positive outcome of a QAPI project or detecting
barriers preventing project success
19) Support QAPI efforts both verbally and non-verbally (i.e., via actions and attitude), including
adjusting performance and practice in accordance with QAPI initatives and findings.
1) Clear tables and remove dishes/trays from dining room to dishwashing room.
2) Scrape/empty soiled dishes, disposing of waste according to procedure.
3) Properly load dish machine and operate automated dishwashing solution dispensing
4) Record proper operating temperatures and sanitizing agent.
5) Supervise travel of dishes through dish machine.
6) Unload dish machine and sort clean dishes.
7) Wash/sanitize items by hand as necessary.
8) Transport clean dishes and place in proper storage areas.
9) Sanitize food carts and dishwashing counters/surfaces after each meal, and maintains
dishwashing area in clean, orderly condition.
10) Bag and dispose of garbage according to established procedure.
11) Follow cleaning schedule as assigned.

1) Observe and abide by all HIPPA rules and regulations to ensure that personal health
information is protected during its collection, use, disclosure, storage and destruction
within Prairie View; and to ensure only the minimum necessary information is known
to function in this position.
2) Follow oral and written directions.
3) Attend in-service training programs for Food Service employees.
4) Follow all facility safety policies and procedures.
5) Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.
6) Assume accountability for data contained in the employees’ handbook.
7) Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor.
8) Perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner.
9) Observe infection control procedures related to the Dietary Department.
10) Follow Residents’ Rights policies and procedures.
11) Observe all facility policies and procedures.
12) Come to work in neat, clean attire and consistently present an appropriate professional
13) Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
14) Consistently work cooperatively with residents, residents’ representatives, facility staff,
physicians, consultants and ancillary service providers.
