Quality Assurance/ Infection Preventionist Registered Nurse
Duties and Responsibilities:
Staff Development
Plan, develop, direct, evaluate and coordinate education and on-the-job clinical training programs in alliance with state and federal guidelines, as well as industry standards.
Assume the authority, responsibility and accountability for directing the clinical in-service educational programs, as well as individual clinical training.
Develop competency assessments and conduct skills training.
Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, class attendance and subject records.
Quality Assurance
Develop and implement a Quality Assurance Program using MDS data scrubbing software or Caspar reports for guidance to Quality Measure outliers. Also utilize grievances, survey citations and mock survey audits. Finally, implement policy changes based on CMS and other industry standard setters.
Remain current on new developments by attending professional CEU seminars and reading professional journals.
Facilitate the SNF QAPI plan and PIPs.
Do root cause analysis and implement action plans for identified action items such as incident reports, after action emergency codes, and consultant identified safety audits.
Represent nursing on the facility Safety Committee and assist Human Resources with OSHA health related policy implementation.
Maintain quality assurance logs of site inspections for identified areas.
Infection Preventionist
Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, coordinate, and direct the facility infection control program in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines.
Ensure the facility is in compliance with CDC, OSHA and CMS, as well as local health departments concerning infection control. Keep any required certification up-to-date.
Develop, maintain, and periodically update infection control precautions and aseptic techniques that successfully correct problem areas.
Interpret infection control policies and procedures.
Manage biohazard program.
Review and analyze infectious disease lab reports and consult with the DON for aseptic techniques.
Assist in developing and implementing guidelines for the decontamination and sterilization activities performed in the facility.
Monitor expiration and sterilization of medical supplies and equipment.
Keep records and do investigations of nosocomial and community-acquired infections.
Manage antibiotic stewardship program.
Assist the Environmental Services Director in developing infection control procedures for the handling of clean and dirty linens, as well as the routine and terminal cleaning of isolation rooms and areas, as well as equipment.
Assist in Discharge Planning for residents with isolation or infection control needs.
Manage the facility wide TB management control program.
Report all reportable diseases to the county, state or NHSN departments.
Follow HIPAA guidelines.
In coordination with occupational health, conduct fit testing.
Education:
Must possess, as a minimum, a (2) year RN degree.
Must have a minimum 2-years experience working in a nursing facility.
Must have training and public speaking ability.
Must have computer skills and be able to manage audiovisual equipment for training.
