Autumn Wolbert began her career in long-term care as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) and fell in love with the setting and people. Autumn followed her dream of becoming a nurse and currently serves as the director of nursing at Prairie Vista Village. She describes long-term care as a very rewarding setting and enjoys making a positive difference in the lives of her residents.
How did you get started in the long-term care profession?
I thought that I wanted to be a nurse, so when I was 15 I started to work as CNA in a long-term care facility. I fell in love with the setting and population.
What do you like most about working in long-term care?
The thing I like the most is that I get to know my residents, develop a relationship with them and make a difference in their lives.
What would you tell others to encourage them to consider a career in long-term care?
Long-term care is a very rewarding setting; You develop a lot of great relationships and can really make a difference for your residents.
