Program Description
This program provides an overview of ICD-10-CM coding in the home health and hospice setting. Attendees will learn to navigate the ICD-10 code book, apply specific coding guidelines, and accurately sequence diagnoses, including complications and comorbidities. The session will also cover recent coding updates, common principal diagnosis errors, and case scenarios with PDGM impact. Practical exercises will reinforce these concepts, ensuring participants leave with the skills needed for accurate and compliant coding.
Learning Objectives:
- Navigate and utilize the ICD-10-CM code book efficiently for Home Health and Hospice coding.
- Understand and apply coding guidelines, including sequencing the principal diagnosis and identifying complications/comorbidities.
- Analyze real-world case scenarios with PDGM impact and address common coding errors in Home Health and Hospice.
ICD-10-CM Coding Manual
Participants must have access to an ICD-10-CM coding manual for this training program. It is preferred to have the 2025 version as codes get updated, added, and/or deleted each year; but is not required for the course. Manuals can be borrowed from your facility or purchased either from Amazon or directly from a publisher such as Optum or the American Medical Association.
