Meet Kristy — a caring bath aide whose gentle heart, kind spirit and dedication make a meaningful difference in the lives of Maple Crest residents every day.
How did you get started in the long-term care profession?
I got started in long-term care by chance, but I stayed because I quickly realized the impact I made on people’s lives.
What do you like most about working in long-term care?
It is rewarding to build bonds with so many people. Being a part of [residents’] lives, caring for them, supporting them and listening to their stories means so much to me.
What would you tell others to encourage them to consider a career in long-term care?
It’s more than providing care; it’s showing up when it matters most.
What lessons have you learned working in long-term care that also help you outside of work?
Listening is more powerful than you realize. We can all listen but we can’t always fix.
When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
Spending time with my friends and family, traveling and seeing the world.
What is your favorite quote and why?
“Your faith has to be bigger than your fear.” It’s easy to stay stuck where we are comfortable, but it takes courage to break free from fears and grow.
