Member Spotlight: Bobbie Weber of St. Anthony Nursing Home

November 9, 2023

Bobbie Weber, director of nursing (DON) at St. Anthony Nursing Home, finds joy in connecting and building relationships with her residents and their families.

How did you get started in the long-term care profession?

I returned for my Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN) degree. I then returned to teaching because of family changes.

What do you like most about working in long-term care?

My favorite part about working in long-term care is interacting with families and residents, hopefully making their lives brighter. I also enjoy building relationships with them.

What would you tell others to encourage them to consider a career in long-term care?

Working in long-term care allows you to build relationships, whereas acute care doesn’t always make connections.

What lessons have you learned working in long-term care that also help you outside of work?

I have learned patience. I often look through their life experiences and compare them to my own.

When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy spending time with my husband, son and friends. I also enjoy crocheting and listening to books.

What is your favorite quote and why?

My favorite quote is, “I can. I will. I am.” It is a reminder that life moves forward.
