IHCA Foundation Scholarship Programs

About our scholarship programs:

The IHCA Foundation is an affiliate of the Iowa Health Care Association (IHCA) that represents more than 800 Iowa long-term care providers. The Foundation’s scholarship programs are made for long-term care employees and high school students interested in a career in long-term care.

Applications for the 2025-2026 academic year are closed.

IHCA Member Employee Scholarship

Made possible by IPALTC, Nurse Connect, ICAP, IHCA Districts, Assured Partners, BCG, Blue Stone Therapy, Consonus Pharmacy, Lee Agency, Martin Bros., McKesson, NuCara Pharmacy + Home Medical, Right Dose Pharmacy and Provider Partners
34 $1,500 scholarships awarded

These scholarships were made for employees of IHCA member organizations seeking to advance their health care education. Scholarships were awarded to provide funds toward tuition for nursing, health care administration, physical or occupational therapy programs.

Iowa Total Care Executive Health Care Leadership Scholarship

Nine scholarships awarded

These scholarships were made for leaders at IHCA member organizations interested in attending the IHCA Executive Health Care Leadership Institute. This program is specifically designed for leaders who work in long-term care and includes the leadership fundamentals necessary to lead others and the specific technical skills in demand in long-term care settings.

MolinaCares High School Scholarship

Made possible by the Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation (MolinaCares)
Nine $2,000 scholarships awarded

These scholarships were made for Iowa high school seniors, with a high school graduation date during the 2024-2025 academic year, enrolled in an accredited CNA, LPN or RN degree program upon graduation from high school and interested in pursuing a nursing career in long-term care.

Care Initiatives Director of Nursing (DON) Leadership Scholarship

Seven scholarships awarded

These scholarships were made for ADONs, DONs or RNs employed by an IHCA member facility and interested in pursuing the American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing (AAPACN) DNS-CT (Director of Nursing Services – Certified) certification, a DON certification program held virtually in December 2025.

These scholarships were made for new DONs employed by an IHCA member facility to attend the DON Fundamentals - A Playbook for New Nurse Leaders held in September 2025. This scholarship program provided a great opportunity for new DONs to learn, grow and connect with others in the same role.
