IHCA Foundation Scholarship Programs
About our scholarship programs:
The IHCA Foundation is an affiliate of the Iowa Health Care Association (IHCA) that represents more than 750 Iowa long-term care providers. The Foundation’s scholarship programs are made for long-term care employees, high school students, veterans and rural Iowa residents.
The application period for the 2024 scholarship programs listed below has closed. 2025-2026 academic year scholarship opportunities will be available in March of 2025. Please bookmark this page for the latest updates.
- John W. & Kimberly D. Grubb Registered Nurse (RN) Scholarship – This $4,000 scholarship is for employees of IHCA member organizations who are pursuing an accredited RN degree or seeking to advance their nursing degree, and is made possible by the John R. and Zelda Z. Grubb Charitable Foundation. A total of 61 scholarships were awarded in 2024.
- MolinaCares High School Scholarship – This $2,000 scholarship, made possible by The Molina Healthcare Charitable Foundation (MolinaCares), is available for Iowa high school seniors enrolled in a certified nursing assistant (CNA), licensed practical nurse (LPN), registered nurse (RN), associate of science in nursing (ASN) or bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) program upon graduation from high school. It is intended for those interested in a future career in long-term care. A total of nine scholarships were awarded in 2024.
- Linda Juckette Family Rural and Veteran Scholarship – This $2,000 scholarship is for anyone who is a veteran or active-duty military personnel OR resides in a rural Iowa county and is interested in pursuing a health care education with the goal of joining the long-term care profession. A total of five scholarships were awarded in 2024.
- IHCA Member Employee Scholarship – This $1,500 scholarship is for employees of IHCA, ICAL and ICHC member organizations seeking to advance their health care education. Scholarships will be offered to provide funds toward tuition for nursing, health care administration, physical or occupational therapy programs. A total of 13 scholarships were awarded in 2024.
- Iowa Total Care Executive Health Care Leadership Scholarship – This $1,500 scholarship is for leaders at IHCA, ICAL and ICHC member organizations interested in attending the IHCA Executive Health Care Leadership Institute, and is made possible by Iowa Total Care. A total of nine scholarships were awarded in 2024.
- Care Initiatives Director of Nursing (DON) Leadership Scholarship – This scholarship, made possible by Care Initiatives, is for assistant directors of nursing (ADONs), DONs or RNs who are employed by an IHCA, ICAL or ICHC member facility and are interested in pursuing the American Association of Post-Acute Care Nursing (AAPACN) DNS-CT (Director of Nursing Services – Certified) certification, a DON certification program held at IHCA on Nov. 12-15, 2024. Scholarships were offered to provide for the registration fee to participate in the AAPACN DNS-CT (DON Certification Program) held at IHCA. A total of 12 scholarships were awarded in 2024.
- UCare HCBS and Home Health Continuing Education Scholarship – This $3,000 scholarship, made possible by UCare Foundation, is for employees of IHCA/ICAL/ICHC members that offer home- and community-based services (HCBS) or home health services. Scholarships were available for employees interested in pursuing a career in nursing, long-term care, health care administration, physical or occupational therapy programs. Nine scholarships were awarded in 2024.
